I mentioned before that I love Greek and Mediterranean flavors, especially in the Spring and Summer. When one of my favorite Mediterranean restaurants closed, I started learning how to make some easy dips that were similar to the ones on their menu. This Whipped Feta Dip is pretty close to a feta dip they made and it’s so quick and easy that I make it pretty often!

Greek Feta Dip Variations
If you want to try some different flavor profiles using this easy dip recipe, here are some ideas:
- Crunch – Add some pine nuts to the top of the dip for some extra crunch.
- Roasted Red Pepper – Blend in roasted red peppers for a smoky, slightly sweet flavor.
- Spicy – Add red pepper flakes, a dash of cayenne, or Sriracha.
- Lemon Herb – Add fresh lemon zest with the juice and blend in some dill, parsley or other fresh herbs to really make this a focused feta lemon dip.
- Honey Drizzled – Top with a drizzle of honey and crushed pistachios for a sweet and salty combo. (You can also add heat to this variation by using hot honey!)
- Sun-Dried Tomato – Blend in sun-dried tomatoes or use them as a topping with fresh basil.

Substitutions
There are a few substitutions you can make in this recipe as well:
Feta Ricotta Dip
You can make substitute Ricotta cheese for the Greek yogurt in this recipe. This will give you a creamier texture and a bit more mild of a flavor compared to Greek yogurt. You will get a bit more smoothness in texture but ricotta is often less thick so you may need to drain the ricotta before blending it with the feta cheese.
Feta Sour Cream Dip
You can also substitute sour cream for the Greek yogurt in this recipe. Sour cream will give you a similar tangy flavor but it also gives the dip a slightly creamier texture. Sour cream can add more tang than some Greek yogurts, so you might want to taste as you go. You may not need to use quite as much sour cream.
Leftovers & Storage
You can keep this dip or any leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days in the refrigerator.
The texture may thicken as it is refrigerated but it is still delicious. When you’re ready to enjoy it, let the leftovers come to room temperature and serve.
Tips & Tricks
- You can also use crumbled feta in this recipe to save a bit of time. You can just put the crumbles in the food processor with the Greek yogurt. Because crumbled feta can often be on the drier side, you might not get the same flavor, but it is a time saver if you’re looking for one.
- You can also use this dip (or leftovers) as a feta spread. Try it on a baguette or a bagel. It’s even good on toast!
