Selah needs an adoptive family — could you or someone you know be the right fit for this artistic girl?

Dressed in a white tulle skirt, Selah sat in a circle with eight other children, clapping to the music with a bright smile. It was a joyful day in Southeast Asia, where 50 children from a local orphanage came together for a special day camp. The children danced and sang along to songs, filling the moment with laughter and fun memories.

Eight-year-old Selah has spent her childhood in an orphanage. Her favorite subject is language, and lately, she’s been practicing her multiplication tables. Selah shared that she hopes to learn English someday. She’s very creative and spends time coloring and drawing in her spare time. With her orphanage allowance, Selah is learning to save money for the orphanage market.

She loves stickers, dolls, purses and playing tag with her friends at the orphanage. Her caretakers share that Selah plays well with others and prefers to join in with peers instead of playing alone. She focuses well, is persistent when facing challenges and is a natural leader.

Selah is adventurous and enjoys trying new things. Her favorite meals include rice with a fried egg, vegetables, noodles with pork and a traditional dessert. One of her favorite memories was when she went swimming and slid down the water slide. She dreams of going to an amusement park one day with her adoptive family.

Selah is a kind and thoughtful little girl who looks out for others. Her caregivers share that she expresses her emotions well and is very intentional. She’s often seen giving hugs to the other children in her orphanage when they’re upset. She enjoys making bracelets and giving them to others. With lots of love to share, Selah says that she hopes to be loved by an adopted family soon.

Selah has a complicated heart condition that will require surgery. Her adoptive family should be prepared to embrace unknowns regarding her medical needs. To help with adoption fees, two $10,000 grants are available to help the right family adopt Selah. To help her thrive, her ideal family should be familiar with institutionalization and practice TBRI techniques to create a safe and comfortable environment.

Could you or someone you know be a good fit for sweet Selah? If so, please email us at [email protected]. Her face is hidden here due to country restrictions on child privacy, but our staff recently spent time with Selah and we would love to share photos, videos and impressions with prospective families!
