Grating egg for devil egg dip

Step By Step Directions

This recipe makes 8 servings and takes about 10 minutes prep time. This prep time does not include the time needed to hard boil your eggs. If you need some easy ways to make hard-boiled eggs, try Air Fryer Hard Boiled EggsMicrowave Hard Boiled Eggs, or Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs.

Once you have your hard boiled eggs, you’re ready to make Devil Egg Dip! You can use warm or cooled eggs. I prefer to use chilled eggs but that’s because traditional deviled eggs are served cool.

Step 1. Peel the eggs and then grate the eggs (whites and yolks) using the large holes on a box grater.

There are so many ways to customize this hard boiled egg dip and change up the taste. You can try different variations depending on ingredients you might have on hand.

  • Different mustard varieties – you can try Dijon mustard, honey mustard, spicy brown mustard, hot mustard, or stone ground mustard to see how they change up the deviled egg flavor.
  • Add savory – try adding bacon bits or avocado.
  • Spice it up – add diced jalapenos, cayenne pepper, or extra hot sauce.
  • Southern flavor – make this egg dip Southern style by adding some pimento peppers and a bit of paprika.
  • Try different garnishes – garnishes can add some extra flavor to the dip so try a variety like chives, fresh dill, chopped parsley, bacon bits, sliced green onions, toasted breadcrumbs, sliced red onion, a drizzle of hot sauce, crumbled blue cheese, or capers.
