Here’s a super easy, super festive valentine that’s perfect for handing out to classmates. Good for both boys and girls — and it’s candy-free! All you need to do is pick up some festive party blowers and package them with the You Blow Me Away printout, and you’re good to go.
For those of you who are really in the mood to get your craft on, you can MAKE YOUR OWN PARTY BLOWERS — using pretty paper you picked out yourself! There’s a full tutorial with lots of photos and clear instructions below.
Custom party blowers would also be a fun detail at the next celebration you host.
Supplies:
Scrapbook paper
Tape
Rubber bands
Vellum
Straws
Double-sided tape (I used tacky tape)
Scissors or paper trimmer
Instructions:
Cut the scrapbook paper to 2”x9”.
Fold the sides of the paper so they meet in the middle. When folded, the paper should be 1”x9”.
Tape the middle of the paper where the ends meet. (Make sure the party blower is air tight).
Fold one end down about an 1/8” and tape closed.
Start rolling the paper with the end that you folded down.
Once it’s rolled up nice and tight, place a rubber band around it.
Cut a straw 5” long and a piece of velum 1”x5” long.
Use the vellum and double-sided tape to wrap the straw.
Remove the rubber band off the roller paper and place some double sided tape on one end of the straw.
Insert taped side of straw into paper sleeve.
Fold sides of paper sleeve over straw and tape.
To package the party blower, print the You Blow Me Away pdf, and staple it to a cello bag. You can download the pdf here. When printing, make sure it’s set to print at a scale of 100%. Use the trim guides to cut to 6”x4”, then fold in half. You can even add confetti for an extra festive touch!
